SKIDOR: Skidskyttar dopade
Tre ryska skidskyttar ska ha fastnat i dopningskontroller i samband med världscuppremiären i Östersund i december förra året. Den ryska nyhetsbyrån Allsport rapporterar att alla tre testats positivt för bloddopningsmedlet epo. Inga namn har avslöjats, endast att det rör sig om två damer och en herråkare. Skidskytte-VM i sydkoreanska Pyeongchang inleds 14 februari. (TT) Publ.DN Sport 2009-02-03

INTERPOL, WADA JOIN FORCES AGAINST DOPING
LYON, France (AP) - Interpol and the World Anti-Doping Agency joined forces Monday against the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports, including sharing information and evidence about doping.The agreement comes more than a year after the international police agency abruptly pulled out of an information-sharing deal with WADA, in what the head of the anti-doping agency at the time called an "embarrassing failure."The organizations signed the agreement at Interpol's headquarters in Lyon.

The European Commission has decided to hold regular meetings with the Olympic Movement as part of a "structured dialogue" with the sports world.IOC President Jacques Rogge said sports organisations need the support of the EU "to tackle challenges like doping, irregular betting, racism and violence and to safeguard the specificity of sports structures and sporting rules".

ATHENS, Greece (AP) - Greek race walker Athanasia Tsoumeleka's backup doping sample has also tested positive for a banned substance, the national athletics federation said Monday.The federation said in a brief statement it would initiate disciplinary action against Tsoumeleka after being informed of the result by the International Association of Athletics Federations.She could face a two-year ban.
